Not only can a gap in your teeth cause acute lack of self-confidence due to the aesthetic look of your teeth and mouth, but it can also affect speech, chewing and often, the surrounding teeth can start to drift and move into the gap, causing misalignment issues too.
Our specialist dental surgeons will consult you and your individual case, offering you the best treatment and bespoke dental plans. The most common way to fix a gapped tooth is dental implants, but we can also offer options for Dental Crowns, Dentures and Bridges too.
What is a crown?
A crown may be offered if the tooth is still in place, but it is damaged, broken or weakened. It is used to cover, or cap the tooth, restoring the tooth and its appearance.
What is a bridge?
A Bridge may be recommended for one or more teeth missing, often covering a space between two teeth, and ‘bridging’ the gap between them. It’s a great way to restore several teeth on a row that may be affecting eating, chewing or speaking.
What is a denture?
Different from crowns, bridges and implants that are fixed and attached, Dentures are ‘false teeth’ that are used to replace whole rows of missing teeth with hard-wearing materials that mimic the look of real teeth and gums. They’re custom-made, fit snuggly into the mouth, and most importantly, they’re removable. They should look natural, feel comfortable and offer patients a chance to eat and speak naturally once again.
What is a dental implant?
- A Dental Implant is a metal rod / screw made from titanium which is placed into the jawbone to replace the root portion of your own natural tooth.
- After being fitted, the bone around the implant will gradually bind to it and hold it into place.
- A false tooth is then created and fitted to that implant.
- The only visible part is the replacement tooth itself, and this is referred to as a crown. The crown will be shaped and coloured to look just like your natural teeth so that nobody will ever know the difference.
- You’ll be able to eat and chew normally, with no pain or discomfort.
If you’re looking to replace a single, a couple or a whole row of missing teeth, be sure to come in for a consultation with our dental specialists who will be able to plan and draw up the best possibilities for you.
